Belstaff ladies Glen Helen jacket black

The ladies Glen Helen represents one of the most significant developments in the Belstaff range, since the company changed ownership.

As you may know, Belstaff was relatively recently acquired by the Austrian fashion house, Labelux, who own a number of well known high-end clothing brands.

These guys understand women, or at least women’s shapes (does anybody really understand women?).

Anyway, the old ladies' Trialmaster was basically the men’s Trialmaster in a smaller size. It did the job, but it looked boxy and wasn’t terribly flattering. You had to really want a Trialmaster to wear it.

Well, the new jacket is a totally different cut that has been created to follow the female form.

It’s a shorter jacket, with a longer top half and a great waisted fit. It really is a lot more feminine, this new version.

The material is an 8oz wax cotton, so it’s on the lighter side when it comes to the spectrum of Belstaff jackets.

It comes with a Miporex lining for waterproofing, and sealed seams. Of course, this doesn’t mean the jacket is 100% waterproof. No jacket is really, and certainly not one made from wax cotton.

To keep you warm, there’s a 150 gramme quilted lining in the form of a zip-out gilet. The arms are permanently padded with 60 gramme padding.

The rest of the jacket is pretty much on brief, in that you get all the standard features that you find on nearly all Belstaff jackets.

You get corduroy, in the collar for comfort and removable D3O armour in the shoulders and elbows.

If, occasionally, you just want a fitted wax cotton jacket for wearing around town, or for a visit to the country, you can take the armour out. Just remember to put it back in when you get on the bike!

What else is there?

A pocket for a back protector. Four outside pockets, one inside. Nice quilted padding on the elbows and sleeves. Ventilation openings on the back. Cuff adjusters. A leather facing on the neck and cuffs. An adjuster for the neck. And an anti-scratch cover on the buckle.

It’s available in black only for now. It’s a real cracker of a jacket. It’s as protective and practical as almost any ladies' biking jacket, but it’s a lot more lady-like than most.

Now you don’t have to be quite so hardcore to get that hardcore biker look! Product Code: BEL099
