CB550 The J.O. Build
By Anthony van Someren - 08 Jan 13
This is one of Steel Bent Customs' last pair of builds in 2012, a 1977 Honda CB550 AKA, the J.O. build.
The client from Austin Texas wanted more of a bobbed style bike, so Michael Mundy and his crew tore into their signature design with it's very open, clean centre, with a super-slim seat plus front & rear fenders.
The tank & headlight are painted a vintage brown with a gold stripe by Craig Skiver at “Craig Paints Bikes”. SBC's 4 into 1 exhaust with Cone Engineering silencer give the tuned/synched podded carbs a smooth growl with a screaming power band.
Michael and the guys are extremely proud of this build, and although it's been preceeded by many other stunning bikes this year they say "She is one of our best builds yet & once you see the photographs, we think you’ll agree."
"We were able to build 15 bikes this year & we are now reserving build orders for delivery dates back-ordered into April 2013. We have added some new content to the Steel Bent Customs website to include our ordering process with both commission & consignment builds."
"We are humbled by SBC’s success & we look forward to serving the growing garage builder community & allowing others to enjoy the open road on 2 wheels."
In other words, the guys are doing really well, people love their bikes, and we think all this success is extremely well deserved, despite their humility. And we agree - this is one of the very best.
