The latest BMW custom to roll out of Kev Hill's workshop in Paignton, Devon, is The Vault, a cafe racer featuring the usual quality rebuild and Kevils components. The bike was commissioned by Steve, the managing director of an American data security company, so next stop for this build is Chicago, where she will see out the winter in the foyer of the company head office. But this is no show bike. Once things warm up she'll be tearing up the mean Chicago streets. The build features Kevils' own seat unit with frenched-in rear light, upholstered in leather. Ace style bars drop low and, mated with rear-sets, they provide a proper cafe-racer crouch. The Kevils two into one exhaust leads into a matt black end-can and the rear of the bike is finished in a set of colours taken from the latest Lamborghinis. The bike hangs on to the OEM snowflake wheels and toaster tank while the rest of the build is all about what's been hidden, taken away or replaced with something tiny.
