Bandisca Motorcycles Relaunch
By Ross Sharp - 14 Nov 17
When the Bandisca crew returned to Bucharest after a road trip to exhibit at Bike Shed London 2017 they were met with an eviction order from a greedy landlord and given just 30 days to vacate their beloved workshop…..
Dispondant they started packing the workshop and small retail space while hunting for another building. Sadly orders were lost, the doors closed and it looked like the beginning of the end. So, they did the right thing, went out with friends to drink to the short lived success and tried to hatch a plan.
As luck would have it one friend is an architect who had a great idea, saying "did you know I own an old house? You could move there... I want someone to stay there long term, it’s a solid place and I never want don't want to demolish it “
Bandisca's founder Alf couldn't believe his luck, telling us "So the God of Speed came to visit us. The Parisian style house was built in 1895 in the Lizeanu neighborhood, very close to everywhere and is in a pretty nice shape with an attached garage and underground space where we’ve setup the workshop and a cool private courtyard. It’s perfect!”
"We put our last remaining savings into the new place to create a cool hub for our friends and riders to enjoy. Whether they want to just hang out over a coffee, watch a motorcycle movie, buy some gear, magazines and apparel or talk to us about a full custom bike project - it can all happen here."
"So far so good, business is going well, attracting riders from not just the city but from across Romania too - and the scene is really growing here. Sometimes bad things can have a happy ending."
These shots from their opening party show what an eclectic place this house is and surely the envy of anyone that visits. Who wouldn't want to live in a house where motorcycles take pride of place.
Congratulations guys, this is brilliant news. Hopefully the stars align and we can visit someday soon.
