CB750 The Hoang Build

By Anthony van Someren - 10 Jan 13

CB750 The Hoang Build
To finish 2012 Steel Bent Customs rounded-off the year with two lovely CeeBee builds, and this is the second we've featured here on The Bike Shed - their Honda CB750 - AKA the Hoang build. This build was a commission where the client requested a fully black bike in terms of wheels, engine and chassis parts, with a tin colour on the bodywork similar to one of their previous bikes, the “Neck Tat”. The owner also wanted a bicycle made for two, which Micheal & his crew knew would present a challenge alongside their minimalist signature design ethos. As usual with most SBC builds, the bike features 4 into 1 downpipes joining a Cone Engineering muffler breathing through carbs on pod K&N style filters. Twin gauges for speed and rpm are mini-sized and the bike features subtle turn signals. Gloss black Clubman style bars give her a true cafe racer stance without a back-breaking riding position. The battery has been sealed and mounted almost completely out of sight on the swing arm, and with the flat brat-style seat, the rear subframe is left totally empty, so you'd see right down the carb openings from the rear of the bike - if it weren't for those filters. The end result is a pure Steel Bent Customs build, with the usual completely minimalist brat/cafe style on a bike that will look as good on the road as a daily two-up ride as it does in these stark studio photos. More great work from Michael Mundy & his crew at Steel Bent Customs.
