deBolex Engineering ZRX1200
deBolex Engineering needs no introduction on these pages. If you've just returned from Mars and have missed out, take a look here to gen up on one of the most talented duos in custom motorcycle building. A couple of weeks ago we visited deBolex's HQ in Croydon, just south of London, to catch up with front man Calum Pryce but more importantly to have a good poke around their latest Kawasaki ZRX1200 project. I met Des, the other half of deBolex, for a brew before filming but he's not an on camera guy so had a well earned day off. Shame, we'd loved to have heard about the part he played in this build from the horse's mouth. To find out who did what, and how, there's a fairly comprehensive video below but we thought a few photos of the finished machine and some of the progress shots were worth sharing. Click through these albums of snaps to see under the skin of what was to be deBolex's last 1-of-1 customs. More on that in the video. It's not always easy to make these vids, especially as Calum is a good friend (we'd goof around way more if we weren't trying to remain slightly professional) and I'm not a natural in front of the camera. I've tried to delve deep into the detail and focus on the minutia because not only do I find it interesting but because I think it's the stuff you can't see that sets this level of custom workshop apart from others. It's a long 'un so crack a cold one, and hopefully enjoy. If you want to read more there's a feature on the Bike Exif website. We were hoping to go for a spin but the weather kicked that idea into touch. We'll see if the owner wants to race at the Bike Shed Festival. He'll obviously need us to scrub the tyres in, the gentlemanly service to offer.....
