Left Hand Cycles - Bomber

Left Hand Cycles - Bomber
LHC Bomber 1 When Frank tasked Richard and Lex at Left Hand Cycles to build his dream bike he gave them a simple brief, a classy scrambler please, with a wild touch. A BMW was his base of preference, he craved a slice of the boxer custom pie, but beyond that the Dutch based shop was given carte blanché to create his steed. LHC Bomber 2 Richard and Lex acknowledge that adding to the burgeoning Boxer custom stable is a challenge for builders, due to the sheer quality of the bikes already populating the class. Undeterred they stayed true to their Left Hand Cycle values and opted for a rugged yet clean aesthetic with their keen eye for detailing. LHC Bomber 3 After some searching Richard and Lex sourced a 1978 R80/7 in fine fettle and began the project. The engine had maintained its infamous BMW build quality and required little more than replacement clutch plates. The wheels had also stood the test of time so were lightly refurbished then reshod with Dunlop Trailmax tyres. LHC Bomber 5 The frame parts were powder coated and the tank and fenders sent for a matte black makeover. Wide BSA handlebars befitting of a scrambler were wound with black tape to compliment the palette. The pipes were also wrapped with black and lead to megaton mufflers that received matching matte black treatment. All this black is contrasted by the red wine leather seat that eschews the brat slimline flavour in favour of true scrambler padding. LHC Bomber B The bike is finished with some trademark Left Hand Cycles military canvas in the form of a headlight topping tool roll, hinting at a tough, adventurous life lying ahead of this scrambler. See more builds from Richard and Lex on their own Bike Shed page.
