Yamaha XSR700 Scrambler

Yamaha XSR700 Scrambler
Just when Yamaha's super successful Yard Built Project looked to be flagging a few absolute stonking builds have been released. A few of which at Bike Shed London 2019 a couple of months ago. And this is one of my favourites. In fact I think it's one of the best XSR700 based customs so far. I love it, and so does everyone in the Bike Shed office. This Yamaha IT inspired build is from the hands of very talented Portuguese duo, Nuno Capêlo and Ricardo Santos. Each with their own custom shops, Capêlo's Garage & Elemental Rides, they've both exhibited at our shows, and stunned the crowds, for the last few years. With this bike they've conquered the awkward XSR700 frame shape, with its engine mounting tubes that jut out at right angles from the main spine. I had a sit on this and was desperate for a go, it felt narrow and just right, which a lot of scrambler styled conversions just don't. Maybe if they can get their hands on a Ténéré 700 they could recreate one of the most wonderful Dakar machines ever, the Chesterfield liveried XTZ750. In fact if I had control of Yamaha's Yard Build budget I'd commission exactly that. Again, being an official Yard Build for Yamaha Portugal it means Bike Exif have the scoop on this one, dem the rules. So head to their website for all the detail and bunch more photos.
